We believe that it is privilege to reach out in love to people in our community who need help and to contribute in positive ways in the life of our community. The Good Samaritan Team provides ways for the congregation to be involved in a variety of activities such as working in the Community Kitchen, flood clean up, park clean up, and numerous other projects that help meet needs and communicate God's love. Do you ever wonder about the meaning of life? What happens after I die? Is God real? Who was Jesus Christ and why does it matter to me today? Alpha is a place where questions are welcomed in a safe and accepting environment, where no one is judged. If you have doubts or are exploring faith, this is the perfect place to be. A typical evening begins with dinner, followed by a short video and a group discussion. Alpha takes place on Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm during the school year, coinciding with our children's and middle school ministries. Alpha bits is our nursery service, to care for babies. For more information, please contact Vel Mondahl.

Every time a given month has five Sundays (about once per quarter), we have Fifth Sunday Services. We gather at 9am for a time of worship and then we go out in teams to minister in our community. There are several choices of ways in which people can serve. After our service projects we return to the church to wrap up with sharing and worship. We encourage entire families to participate so that even the children can discover the joy of serving together. During 2009 the Fifth Sunday Service dates are March 29, May 31, August 30, and November 29. For more information about these services, contact Bill Bowen.

Iowa Career Access Point (ICAP) is a service offered at First Covenant for those seeking employment. Help is provided in preparing resumes, filling out job applications, responding to various job openings, and offering computer assistance. A trained helper is onsite during ICAP's designated hours to help anyone who stops by. For more information, contact Rick Bendickson.

First Covenant Church serves as the north central Iowa relay center for shoebox collection for Operation Christmas Child during the month of November each year. Volunteers staff the drop off center, pack boxes, and transport them to Minneapolis for processing. Several of our volunteers travel to Minneapolis to help at the processing center. For information about this program, contact Bill Bowen.
